Goldman Communications Group was awarded the prestigious Silver Anvil Award by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) for its work with the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE). The Silver Anvil award recognizes outstanding achievement in strategic public relations planning and implementation. Goldman Communications Group and the WGAE won the Silver Anvil for Outstanding Crisis Communications. Sherry Goldman accepted the award at the annual awards ceremony held at the Equitable Center in New York City.
The award-winning campaign focused on the efforts to make East Coast writers voices heard during the 100-day Writers Guild strike by television and film writers in 2007-2008. The multi-pronged communications approach targeted the public, media, Wall Street, legislators, industry influencers, and members of the creative community. The campaign generated high favorable public opinion of the writers throughout the strike and helped writers win a fair contract from the media conglomerates.
“We’re thrilled and honored to receive the Silver Anvil award”, said Sherry Goldman, president of Goldman Communications Group. “It was a true team effort. This award is a result of everyone’s hard work and commitment.”
“The Silver Anvil awards honor the best body of work in the country”, said Joice Truban Curry, chair of PRSA’s Honors and Awards Committee and president/CEO of C3 Communications. “Goldman Communications Group’s work on the Writers Guild strike was an amazing example of stellar public relations work in a crisis situation. The strike was so significant and had a national impact. We’re pleased to honor this program that contributed to the results and outcome beneficial to all.”
