Sherry Goldman is a seasoned communications professional with more than 25 years experience in the public relations, publishing and broadcast fields. As president of Goldman Communications Group, Inc., she has developed and implemented communications programs addressing brand and corporate objectives for a wide range of clients, including First Brands Corporation, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Oh Baby Toys, Del Laboratories, Writers Guild of America East, Seto Holdings, PNT Marketing Services, Workmen’s Circle, International Trademark Association, and Olsten Health Services.
Prior to founding Goldman Communications Group, Sherry held senior positions at some of the industry’s leading public relations agencies, where she developed and managed national consumer marketing, environmental, and corporate communications programs. As senior vice president of Rowland Worldwide, the public relations subsidiary of the communications firm Cordiant (formerly Saatchi & Saatchi), she managed corporate reputation programs for some of the agency’s largest clients, including Canon USA for which she spearheaded the company’s corporate image/environmental program, creating the first marketing promotion component for a Canon corporate program and developing a strategy that significantly increased the program’s media coverage.
As senior vice president of Ruder Finn, one of the country’s largest independent public relations agencies, she developed and managed communications programs for consumer product, environmental, and corporate clients. She was responsible for the management and growth of a grassroots marketing communications program for Glad Wrap and Bags in conjunction with Keep America Beautiful, which became the nation’s largest organized cleanup and recycling program. The program, which involved organizing massive citywide events, extensive use of media and public service initiatives, and accompanying in-store product promotions, won the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Take Pride In America award twice, as well as high recognition from the Public Relations Society of America.
Other key accomplishments Sherry achieved during her public relations career included creating a trial-generating in-school recycling program for Procter & Gamble; developing and managing consumer and trade relations programs for car care brands including Prestone and STP; introducing a new line of sportswear to the fashion industry and a line of canned seafood to the food press; developing a crisis communications strategy on environmental legislation for antifreeze manufacturers, and supporting the launch of Green Seal, the nation’s first non-partisan consumer product environmental labeling program. She also handled media and member relations for organizations such as the National Association of Female Executives and the American Gem Society.
Sherry has extensive communications experience in many industries gained working for a variety of clients and brands, including ADT Security Systems, Evo Pen, Forest Technology’s StarterLogg and HearthLogg, and Silor Optical in the consumer product area; MJ Originals, Arthri-Care Hand & Body Lotion, Olan Labs, and Parfums de Coeur in the fashion/beauty field; Nabisco Brands, Orangina USA, Estee, and Iceland Waters Corporation in the food industry, as well as clients in the licensing, retailing, and non-profit arenas.
Prior to her public relations work, Sherry worked in the media. Her experience includes positions as an editor at Gralla Publications, a leading trade publishing firm, and in the newsroom of WCBS-TV, New York.
Sherry is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, where she is Chair of the National Honors and Awards Committee, the Independent Business Women’s Circle, and the Advisory Board of Hofstra University’s School of Communications. She is also an Adjunct Professor in Public Relations at Long Island University/C.W. Post.
