WINS 2009 SILVER ANVIL AWARD
FOR CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS

Goldman Communications Group was awarded the prestigious Silver Anvil Award by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) for its work with the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE). The Silver Anvil award recognizes outstanding achievement in strategic public relations planning and implementation. Goldman Communications Group and the WGAE won the 2009 Silver Anvil for Outstanding Crisis Communications. Sherry Goldman accepted the award at the annual awards ceremony held at the Equitable Center in New York City.

The award-winning campaign focused on the efforts to make East Coast writers voices heard during the 100-day Writers Guild strike by television and film writers in 2007-2008. The multi-pronged communications approach targeted the public, media, Wall Street, legislators, industry influencers, and members of the creative community. The campaign generated high favorable public opinion of the writers throughout the strike and helped writers win a fair contract from the media conglomerates.

The entry "Pencils Downs: Making East Coast Writers Voices Heard During The 100-Day Writers Guild Strike" was one of the record number 893 entries in the 2009 Silver Anvil competition. There were 126 finalists.
